GOAL - This is the keyword! You must define your goals/targets. But it is only then will you be able to reach it. At first, It may be intimidating to set your goals, But here is a simple formula that will help you in not only setting your goals but also reaching our goals.

Life is constant change. Or Change is the only constant in our life. And every January as we welcome a brand new year, we look back at all the things that we would like to change in this new year. As you welcome the new year, you set new targets. And goals enable you to achieve these targets.

But then, everyone sets goals. But only a few ever really achieve their targets. The big gap here is due to unrealistic, vague or demotivating goals that are almost as good as not having any goals at all.

 How do I set my goals for 2018:

  • Make a list of all the things that you wish to achieve in this year
  • To start with, pick up any 1 wish from the list.
  • Understand why you want to fulfill this wish, what will achieving this wish do for you…
  • Transform your wish into a SMART goal
  • Establish checks and reviews in the timeline
  • Adjust your approach at each checkpoint
  • Be patient and keep working towards your goal
  • Achieve your goal 
  • Celebrate your success

Setting SMART Goals can be easy if you follow a simple systematic process to set your goals. It is best to set your goals as SMART goals. SMART is an acronym that defines the key features to set your goals. It is as follows:

S - Set a Specific Goal as far as possible

M - Set a Measurable & Motivating Goal that gives your happiness

A - Set an Achievable goal that is within your scope and adds to your wins

R - Set a Realist Goal that feels true for you

T - Set a Time-Bound Goals, so that you can achieve this goal and move on to achieve the next goal

Key aspects of a SMART Goal setting process are as follows:

  • Recognize your dreams
  • List what is necessary to achieve it
  • Enumerate what you need to do and prioritize tasks
  • Set a time frame (feasible and optimistic) for achievement of the first two tasks on the list
  • Set exact dates. Mark your calendar and set phone and email reminders.
  • Achieve the target in the time frame set
  • Celebrate every achievement  
  • Set the time frame for the next two tasks
  • And the journey continues till you have achieved your GOAL!
